This course is designed to help build your confidence searching for information online.  This might be useful for employment or for yourself.  At the end there is the option to take your learning further and study in more depth on a connected course to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

If you think that coding might be the pathway for you, this short course can shine a light on the basics.  After studying this course there is the option of studying a more in depth course to gain a formal qualification through our website.

This qualification is for learners who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries. The qualifications are also designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital and IT skills are required, such as finance, education, marketing, machining and manufacturing. The qualifications relate directly to the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers and cover a wide range and use of different digital technologies, systems and software.

This course has been designed following the Gateway Qualifications Level 1 Specifications.  This course builds on your existing knowledge and/or what you learnt in EDSQ Entry 3.  You will be guided through a comprehensive step by step guide on how to be more proficient and confident using your device and interacting with the world using it.  This course is necessary as more and more jobs, products and services are appearing online that once were available in shops or in person.  At EKC DigitalLearn we want to provide you with the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to use your device to access these online jobs, products and services.

This course has been designed following the Gateway Qualifications Entry Level 3 Specifications.  After completing this course you will be more confident using devices and their basic functions.  Your digital skills will be improved so you can follow on to EKC DigitalLearn's Level 1 Qualification.  This course is necessary as more and more jobs, products and services are appearing online that once were available in shops or in person.  At EKC DigitalLearn we want to provide you with the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to use your device to access these online jobs, products and services.

If regular classes don't work for you, whatever the reason, then this self study course with blended elements of Trainer contact is for you.  You can complete the course in your own time and carry on with your daily life.

If you want obtain a GCSE equivalent qualification that is suitable for entry to many further courses and job opportunities, then a fast track qualification in Functional Skills English could be suitable for you.  You will complete three separate skills in order to obtain the full certificate:

- Speaking and Listening:  you will take part in a recorded assessment

- Reading:  a centre-based exam

- Writing:  a centre-based exam
